—-According to the PWTorch.com Newsletter, WWE management does, to a degree, look down upon young wrestlers who “overindulge” in a marijuana habit.
The company believes that marijuana could factor into a wrestler’s lack of desire to get ahead. If a wrestler who has a reputation for a lack of passion also smokes marijuana, he will likely be viewed as a “pothead”—management will likely refrain from giving him a push until he kicks (or hides) the habit.
The same does not apply to marijuana use by veteran WWE wrestlers. WWE accepts the notion that such wrestlers have proven their commitment to success and, consequently, have “earned the right” to indulge.
Under its wellness policy, WWE does not formally test for marijuana use.—-

Now for the question: Would you look down upon a wrestler (that was under serious physical stress) if you knew they smoked marijuana? If so, why? If not, why not?

I think they should test them for marijuana and other illegal narcotics before they sign them. Vince will give the biggest push to a wrestler right after they sign with him and possibly put a belt on him or her. That would help know if they had a problem coming into the company. I have a mixed opinion on it. I look down on certain wrestlers because they are wasting opportunities, like Randy Orton. I do think wrestlers need to have access to stress relieving drugs though because they beat up their body so much and make so much of their life about their job. Overall, Vince knows who he is and isn’t going to push regardless of marijuana. I think if Vince gives the wrestler a poor push what incentive does he have to work hard if he can’t get out of his contract?
no b-cuz they chose 2 do it
yes
everyone thinks jeff hardy is a crack sniffing loser
Yes.
I dislike Jeff Hardy only because he’s a dru g addict.
Somewhat, it won’t make me change my mind if they are one of my favorite wrestlers, but I will probably be disapointed in them and they might lose some of my respect then. Smoking Marijuana isn’t the right way to relieve stress or anything else.
Hiya Harry,
Hmmm….it’s interesting that they used the term “OVERindulge” in a marijuana habit….and that they didn’t use the term “indulge”.
Could it be that their use of …”overindulge”… is a signal…meaning… it’s OK to fire up once in awhile…..just don’t get lazy and lose your desire to practice and work out and just lay around in front of the TV and pork up on Fritos and Cheese Whiz with your lips wrapped around a bong?
Or maybe the WWE is worried about another steroid scandal….and is being proactive?
I for one would have no problems with a wrestler sparking one up occasionally…..provided that he does it on his own time….that he doesn’t bring it to work………and that his performance doesn’t suffer….but Vince is the boss…..and they have to go by what he says…or find another job I guess.

I think Edge is, because he gets paranoid all the time. Yeah, I would look down on them because little kids look up to them and want to be like them. That would be a bad influence on them, and it won’t look very good for the wrestlers. I think they should do drug tests, like any other sport.
i understand their reasoning that if they are already established and dedicated then they could cut more slack..but someone new like the miz shouldn’t be doing any of that stuff (not that he does.. its just an example)
but they went too hard on rvd
