I am an Assistant Director for a school in Dallas. Ever since I have started there, there has been a lack of respect from a few specific staff members. They will tell me “no”, refuse to do their job, refuse to do what I need them to do, stomp off, yell, and throw items. I have always approached each new day with a positive attitude and hopes of a better day. I constantly provide praises to staff and provide them with great incentives for a job well done. I am understanding to every situation and have great relationships with 98% of people there. (this is excluding the few that I am writing this about)
I have went to my supervisors and expressed that I feel defeated and I needed their support in the matter. Every time I do not receive anything except a nod and then they take the conversation to a different topic and then nothing ever happens. It has gotten so bad that my kindergarten class was without a teacher because the staff member told me, “I will walk out this door if you make me go in their, I hate that class”. When I told her she had no option because she is a sub and there was not anyone else to go in, she still refused.
I would of went in the room myself, however I had no coverage at the front office do to lack of staffing. Almost once a day, the two staff members will be on Craig’s List searching for jobs and making comments that they hate where they work and they need to find something else-I have mentioned this to my boss and got nothing. It is filling up the work environment with negativity and drama.
Today-what really prompted me to write this is when I had a situation occur again. I asked the Office Assistant to do an easy and simple task-she got so mad she stood up threw her paperwork across the room pushed her chair into my legs and stormed off. I immediately called my Supervisor and told them they needed to talk to her right then and explained what happened. Well, they talked to her and she came back very happy saying, “Now I don’t have to do anything I don’t want to do!”. My Supervisor later told me that he met with her and she is overloaded with work and just very stressed out!!!! I told him I do not believe she should be getting away with her behavior. He disregarded my statement and said that from now on when she has work to make sure she does not need any help and to avoid asking anything of her if she seems stressed. OH MY GOSH…. Then, him and my other boss were coddling her all day asking what she needed from them.
I feel like I have no support in the situation and I feel defeated. I have work up to my eyeballs but I don’t tell my boss “no” and throw items. ANY SUGGESTIONS???

That is really difficult situation you’re in. First of all you should talk to your boss./ Ask what they expect from you and how they want you to deal with situations like you described. You can tel her/him that you don’t feel support enough. But say you have problems and you need them to help. Otherwise look for new job..
Sorry
This is sooo easy.
Start firing some of these jerks right away.
Do you know how many people are looking for jobs?
Find the most disruptive {and easily replaced) loser and can his or her ***. Be firm and mean about it.
I bet you will see the rest of them shape up fast.
