Much discussed subject in the 21st century !.
Stress comes in many forms and in response to a host of different factors. Not all stress is bad, in fact in small doses it is considered motivating. When reacting to stress our bodies produce the hormones adrenaline and cortisol. These provide us with the ability to respond and move quickly in our daily lives, the flight or fight response. Long term or chronic stress however, means that the body is over exposed to these hormones and this can lead to increased anxiety, depression and inability to cope , and ultimately, physical illnesses.
Stress is apparently a common problem for those who lead a very physically active lifestyle. It may lead to an array of symptoms including headaches, reduced sex drive, loss of appetite, heart palpitations and anxiety. Studies confirm that long term or chronic stress negatively affects health and manifests itself in diseases like cancer chronic fatigue, depression and high blood pressure.
There are some simple, but important and effective ways of managing your stress .
Firstly, eat a balanced and nutritious diet, aim for good quality, adequate sleep and do regular exercises. Secondly, it is essential to recognize what causes your stress. Thirdly, it can be very helpful to discuss what is stressing you and why, with someone that you trust. Relaxation techniques are also very helpful, such as deep breathing and certain aromatherapy oils. Try lavender, chamomile, geranium to lift your spirit.
For me works well meditation. I do meditation twice a day more than 30 years. It has many other healthy benefits, but relating stress is bold. And I am sure I am able to cope because in meditation I also imagine how to attack the problrm to better solve, and not to be attacked.or avoiding to give to someone else the power to control my life. It is not so easy like I am writing now, but I try and as a result I feel good and in majority of cases I have success. Sometimes is very hard but then during the meditation { about 30 minutes} I find a way how I get hurt less.
I hope you’ll get some ideas from my long experiences of life and it will help you.
Take some time to yourself just to rest. Take at least 30 minutes to an hour sometime in your day to just relax. Use this time to clear your mind of everything. This is your time. Play some relaxing music, maybe use some candles in a dark room with a fan blowing lightly on you. Lie down and imagine yourself somewhere peaceful. Do not allow anyone to upset your time. It is wonderful to help relieve stress. You can also do the above with a long, hot bath. Maybe with bubbles. Good Luck.
1. Brisk walking or any other form of exercise that makes you huff and puff and sweat.
2. Music – use your headphones and blast it – as loud as you can tolerate
3. Meet a real good friend (who you trust completely) and talk about the problems you have
4. Get together with some friends over a few drinks! Maybe have a blast!
5. Go some place you like (more like the outdoors, scenic spots) beach, mountain sides. Or better yet, if you are a hiking, campaign kinda person, this is the right time.
6. If you are not a very physically active (do not want to exert) you should pick up a few books of your liking and read, read and read more.
7. Every morning, try to be up 30 minutes earlier than your regular time: Cleanup and meditate for 20 minutes each day. Sit in a comfortable position, silent area where no one will disturb you for 20 minutes, close your eyes and just concentrate on your breathing – “inhale’ then “exhale” – keep a count of your breath if that helps you focus on your breathing. Remember, your mind will wander away innumerable times, but don’t get frustrated (not one reason for stress) – just keep going. Let the mind wander; when you find that you have lost track of your breath, start again. Keep coming back to your breathing rhythm – in a few days – maybe weeks – you will learn to concentrate and find a lot of peace – this is like the energy you provide your mind to stay calm through the day. If you are lucky to get another opportunity to do this within the day, try it again mid-day. This works wonders!
Good Luck and hope this has been helpful
sex, drugs and rock and roll
Well they might help, but other things that might help you are meditation. Or acknowledging your inability to fix whatever it is that is stressing you, thus allowing you to move past it. Go do something you love to do and ignore what has you stressed for a while perhaps?
I get 75 crickets and see how many fish I can catch while letting the waves rock me back and forth in the summer breeze as I watch the boats go lazily by. I listen to the birds and animals. I always throw my catch back.Let them swim off for another glorious day of fun dodging the alligators and turtles. Seems to me we are all running and dodging things in life instead of cooling our heels and enjoying the time we have.
