+ Don’t give yourself impossible itineraries (such as 10 countries in 5 days).
+ Read up and learn some about the place you are going to visit.
+ Keep your documents safe at all times: passports in the hotel or room safe. leave your hotel with only enough spending money for the day (plus some – maybe a 100 dollar bill in your shoe.
+ Travel (depart) light and with no valuables: buy a cheap watch for the trip (don’t wear the Rolex), don’t take real jewelery. Leave with a carry on… then buy what you need at destination, even an extra suitcase to fill.
+ Leaving with the family – eveyone carries his / her own. Give everyone a budget
+ Don’t be afraid to make mistakes or afraid to change your plans…. you’re on vacation and you’ve got some free time to enjoy your mistakes.

It will be far easier to enjoy the holiday if you are honest with yourself and experience all the good, bad and normal parts of life. relax, let go and really enjoy a truly happy holiday! Be as accepting and generous with yourself as you are with the people in your life you care about the most. Buy yourself fresh stems of flowers. Soak your feet.. Have your groceries delivered.. Snuggle with a blankie. Take a long walk. Sleep in. Watch the sunset. Sing yourself a love song. Do all the things for yourself you’d love others to do for you!
Enjoy the most fabulous holiday season of all times! Good luck!!!!!!!!!!

im a very stressful person myself. so what i do every year, being a greek, is go to a greek island for around a week, preferably a small one like in the Cyclades and swim, eat, sleep, drink. Just relax and keep most of the everyday habits away: e.g. tv, newspapers etc. It very stress free to not have a schedule/itinerary on what to do..and just enjoy the seaview and the summer.

  • Genius Cook has said most of what you should do. I would add, go with an open mind, not expecting to find everything like it is at home. Don’t feel that people are stupid, just because they do things differently. It is just a matter of cultural differences. See it as an adventure and if you are particular about eating, just the locals for their typical and traditional dishes. You can’t imagine how many pleasant surprises you may experience.

Do your research before you go so you don’t end up in a flea pit.
