Posted by admin | Stress Management | Saturday 6 February 2010 10:21 am

my little boy is 6 years old and has adhd i dont like the way his meds make him act. we have tryed adderal, focalin, metadate, and now daytrana it helps for a few weeks and then seems not to affect him any more. is there anything other than meds that i can try. random people have told me that all he needs is an old fashion beating but really whats that going to accomplish other than child abuse. i have started him in behavior management classes but we have only had one appointment so far so i dont quite know if its helping yet. please if anyone can help, i am soooo stressed out. i have 2 other children and one on the way.their ages are 6,4,and the baby is 14 months

I’m So Stressed About Choosing A Major…i’d Like A Career With The Earth And Not Worry About Job Prospects?

Posted by admin | Stress Management | Saturday 30 January 2010 10:13 pm

Hey everyone, i’m really stressed out, it’s the second semester of my sophomore year in college and I MUST choose a major… I would like a job with the earth or environment… the landlord of my old apt building was talking about maybe something to do environmentally with trash and recycling… I guess he has a point… I find science museums and traveling absolutely fascinating so that would be nice to have a job that would be like that, here is what my college offers that has some relevance and something i would consider…
Environmental Management
Geography
Geographic Information Sciences
Wildlife and Fisheries Sciences
Agronomy
Horticulture
Biology
What should i do? I’m really starting to stress, I would like to not worry about the job prospects and be able to have a job like 50 miles from home or 5000 miles away, know what i mean? and also have decent pay or the opportunity for traveling, I gueass it doesn’t have to be environment, but just something earth like and natural resources and things like that. thanks a lot!

Stressed Out Please Help!!!?

Posted by admin | Stress Management | Thursday 28 January 2010 10:20 am

I’ve had a pretty difficult past few yrs. I was in 2 year relationship and I found out I was pregnant. When I was 3 months pregnant I found out that my best friend took advantage of me when I was drunk. ( I should have been more responsible). His sister e-mailed me and told me that her brother told her that my baby might be his. I told boyfriend about it and he stood by myside. Then on Christmas eve he broke up with me. Minding you I just turned 9 months. He blew me off for the rest of the time but only went with me to my prenatal visits. 3days before my son was born he started dating this girl from work. And kept lying to me about he just needed to to himself. A couple days later we tooka paternity test and found out that he was not the father. I was devistated and went into a form of depression. I was so blinded by everything that he would tell me after that with all the ” I Love You’s” & the “I dont want to be with her” and messing with my head, he continued to have a whenever-he- felt-like-it- relationship with me. Then I became pregnant by him and he had me have an abortion because he didnt want it and I couldn’t take care of another child. But by the time i went to have the procedure done, i have an ectoptic pregnancy and had to have the procedure done regardless. Then few months later I met my husband. At first we didnt look at each other in any sexual kind of way since we both just came out of pretty bad relationships. The first week we talked non-stop, about anything and everything. He fell in love with my son from the day he met him. 2 months later we got married. Everything happened so fast. From the time we got married my husbands help went down hill. We got married in September. In september he found out he had kidney stones, October Pnemonia, November atrial fibulation (which is very rare in a 24yrs old.) December, upper respiratory infection that lasted 2weeks. January his Gerd and acid reflex was really bad. April he had another upper respiratory infection and found out he has asthma. This monday he just had surgery because he had an inguinal hernia. in December he got laid off from work. And we had to move back to my parents house in April, (due to financial problems.) July he decided to go back to school for his Bachlors’ in Business Management & got his job back working part-time. I just graduated from Medical Assisting and got my diploma last months. I can’t afford daycare so I can work or have anyone in my family that can watch him until I can find a daycare i can afford. Then being a first time mom while my sons going through his teribble two’s at one, and getting spoiled by my parents. I still havent found a job yet. Then my husband is also a rapper and put his dreams aside and decided that now is the time to start. He’d leave the house at 8′oclock and wont come back until 4 in the morning. I dont know what to do. My family tells me thats not good, and i trust & love him but have second thoughts. Can anyone give me advice on how to cope with stress?

Why Don’t I Get As Stressed As Others At Work?

Posted by admin | Stress Management | Tuesday 29 December 2009 4:19 am

I work in a primary school, which is dedicated to being the ‘best’! Which it is. However, when new intitiative or ideas are introduced by staff or management, other people panic and discuss it constantly.
Me however, I tend to just ‘get on with it’, and not see it as a big deal, and still get it done or taught.
Is it natural to be so laid back about things, such as important? I feel I am a good teacher and enjoy it loads!
I am someone who just does not make a big deal – even at home!

I Am A Normally Calm Person (with Treated Bipolar) But Right Now I Am Just So Tired And Stressed Out…?

Posted by admin | Stress Management | Friday 18 December 2009 4:15 am

I am in college and have alot of work to do before the end of the month. I have been taking my meds, attending Doc appts, eating right, sticking to a reasonable time management program and trying to get enough sleep. But my bleeding housemates are keeping the stupidest hours and making it hard for me to get enough sleep, I have severe insomnia and lack of sleep is one of bipolar triggers. I have my own room with thick brick walls and I use ear plugs most of the time except now I have an ear infection and my doc has said I can’t use them. Can someone give me some encouragement please….

Stressed At Work…what Can I Do To Cope With It?

Posted by admin | Stress Management | Wednesday 16 December 2009 10:16 am

Problem stems from a lack of management which is causing us to be very behind. Though it is not my responsibility then I am the one getting extremely stressed out and ending up in tears over it and then having a hard time holding it together for the rest of the day, which I really hate in the work place.
Anyone been in a similar situation and can suggest how I can deal with the situation?
I have tried talking to the managers and making suggestions as to how we could work more efficiently but they seem to fall on deaf ears. I don’t want to have to hand my notice in but feel I may have no choice if this continues as it will begin to affect my state of mind negatively.
Any advice would be appreciated.

What Do I Do, I’m Already So Stressed Out…?

Posted by admin | Stress Management | Wednesday 2 December 2009 4:14 am

It’s only the second day of school. I have sooo much biology homework, and that’s taking up like 4-5 hours of time. There’s just soooo much reading to do, and I’m already stressing. I just don’t have time to do homework for any other subject!
Is there a better way to manage your time? Time management skills? Everything takes me forEVER! (Homework)

Stressed Out At Work?

Posted by admin | Stress Management | Tuesday 10 November 2009 10:52 pm

I have got a 9 to 5 office job and feel stressed out due to the work load and unrealistic expectations coming from management.
Our dept consists of 6 members and a team leader. I have only been there for 6 months, and I have been there the longest !! Staff turnover is very high. Both my original team leader & manager have left. I visited the doctor yesterday, and he has given me a 2 week sick note due to stress.
I would like to know the following:
1. Is a 2 week sick note for stress a reasonable amount of time to take off?
2. Shall I post the sick note to my employer or hand deliver it?
3. Would I get paid for the time I have off in this way? Would it be my normal salary or sick pay?
4. Can I blame the management for me being in this condition? If so, would it affect my future employment when gaining reference from this employer?
5. Would taking time off work due to stress affect my chances of gaining future employment?
