Is Zazen A Form Of Stress Relief?

Posted by admin | Stress Relief | Saturday 13 February 2010 10:13 pm

Zazen is Buddhist meditation practice.
This practice functions to cultivate wisdom, compassion, generosity, kindness, curiosity, equanimity, creativity and other qualities much needed by this suffering world.
Since the point of zazen is to discover our true nature, and since our true nature may not be quite like we expected, some people may find that zazen increases their level of stress.
However, this is usually temporary. Many people find that they live with less stress, when practicing zazen on a daily basis.

What Is The Best Way To Get Relief In Stress ?

Posted by admin | Stress Relief | Sunday 7 February 2010 10:14 pm

Does Meditation relieve stres? you can’t avoid all stress, but you can counteract its negative effects by learning how to evoke the relaxation response, a state of deep rest that is the polar opposite of the stress response. Practising meditation regularly has been shown to reduce stress and lower blood pressure. Living a calmer life allows you to live longer and more happily, you look younger than your years, and you are much more able to cope with life’s inevitable setbacks and difficulties.
The body’s natural relaxation response is a powerful antidote to stress. Relaxation techniques such as deep breathing, visualization, progressive muscle relaxation, meditation, and yoga can help you activate this relaxation response. When practiced regularly, these activities lead to a reduction in your everyday stress levels and a boost in your feelings of joy and serenity. What’s more, they also serve a protective quality by teaching you how to stay calm and collected in the face of life’s curveballs.
Meditation has also been shown to increase alpha brainwaves. Alpha brainwaves are the type of brainwaves used in creativity and problem solving. The more you meditate the more creative you will become which could lead to both personal and professional breakthroughs.
