			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>&#8230;but I only have 4 months at this job. I know, 4 months may seem like nothing, but my health has recently become a major issue. I have had stress problems in the past, that&#8217;s one reason why I developed problems so quickly. But never have I had a job like this: 45 hours a week minimum, an office team of 4 handling over 1,200 clients with that number growing rapidly everyday, angry clients complaining everyday for not being processed quickly enough (we try desperately), not being able to meet those clients&#8217; needs due to massive amounts of tasked constantly being thrown at us with many many short deadlines, and worst of all, a management that puts us at fault for any failure (even if the clients were at fault). I even try to go to school at nights but my grades have suffered due to exhaustion. I have tried &#8220;bucking it up&#8221;, but then I started feeling tightness in my chest. When I tried to confront a manger on this, he said, &#8220;Try and relax, we don&#8217;t want you to be a liability for us.&#8221; It&#8217;s only going to get worse as the management  pressures us to perform better because they strongly believe that we have enough time and staff to fulfill all of our task and  a lot more (I&#8217;m sure they are just saying that so they won&#8217;t have to hire more staff due to $, even though the company is rich). Also I get a lot of pressure from external forces telling me, &#8220;That&#8217;s life&#8221;, &#8220;Just deal with it&#8221; and &#8220;At least you have a job.&#8221; Yeah, I get that, but is it really worth my health? I like my job, just wish I wasn&#8217;t doing the job of 5 people. I really need to quit before I get hauled away in a stretcher, but with only 4 months on the job, I&#8217;m afraid nobody else will want me due to &#8220;lack of commitment to a job&#8221;.  What can I possibly do to help my situation? Is there any hope for me?</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>As compared to men, women have historically spent more time with their families, worked few hours,  suffered less job related stress, enjoyed better health longer, AND lived longer.<br />
But, that trend is changing, especially in countries where feminism has (largely) eliminated traditional gender roles.<br />
Women are spending more time working, are more often in senior management positions, are under increased work related stress, and are thus spending less time with their families (can&#8217;t be in two places at once).<br />
Does this promote better health and well being for women (and men)?<br />

There are many areas of social work that interest me:  public health SW, mental health counseling, EAP counseling, and teaching SW at the post secondary level. I would also like to educate the public about various mental health topics – including stress management, compulsive eating, sleep disorders, pain management, and overcoming anxiety and depression. What kinds of settings and/or positions would allow me to educate the public about healthcare/mental health issues? Also, I prefer not to work with the severely mentally ill &#8211; I would prefer to work with people who are more stable &#8211; what settings would you recommend? Once I become more experienced, I would also like to have my own clinical social work practice. What&#8217;s the best way to get started? I would like to teach social work at the college level; would I be able to do that with a Masters? SW is a very varied field; how can I learn about all the opportunies available? (Is there a good book, etc.)</p>

you will deal with the positive and negative influences on your sense of self.<br />
2. Imagine you are teaching a fifth grader about health. Write a paragraph for the<br />
fifth grader that explains why effective communication is related to health. Include<br />
a definition of &#8220;effective communication&#8221; in your paragraph.<br />
3. Pick a specific mental or emotional problem. List at least 5 signs or symptoms<br />
of that problem. Then list at least 3 actions you would take if a friend showed<br />
these signs. Then write down one reliable source of help you would use if your<br />
friend needed immediate help.<br />
4. Write down one source of stress in your life. List the 3 steps of self-<br />
management, and create a plan to manage that stress in a healthy way. Your<br />
plan should have at least 4 stress management techniques.</p>
