Hey everyone, i’m really stressed out, it’s the second semester of my sophomore year in college and I MUST choose a major… I would like a job with the earth or environment… the landlord of my old apt building was talking about maybe something to do environmentally with trash and recycling… I guess he has a point… I find science museums and traveling absolutely fascinating so that would be nice to have a job that would be like that, here is what my college offers that has some relevance and something i would consider…
Environmental Management
Geography
Geographic Information Sciences
Wildlife and Fisheries Sciences
Agronomy
Horticulture
Biology
What should i do? I’m really starting to stress, I would like to not worry about the job prospects and be able to have a job like 50 miles from home or 5000 miles away, know what i mean? and also have decent pay or the opportunity for traveling, I gueass it doesn’t have to be environment, but just something earth like and natural resources and things like that. thanks a lot!

I am so confused lately… Alot has changed in this past year with my business and the field in general. I just dont know if I want to do this for the rest of my life…..

hi all,
I am currently a 19 year old qualified carpenter and joiner, but have recently realized that carpentry just isn’t what i want to do for the rest of my life, I really want to be a game designer as i have a great imagination, good computer skills, excellent sketching skills and an avid interest in the console gaming industry.
the problem i have is that i don’t have any idea where to start, i thought maybe a college course would be the best place to start but my local connexions (careers advice centre) just kept referring me to different I.T courses even though no matter how hard i stressed that these courses are inappropriate, they just said how these are essential skills needed for this particular career path.
my distrust in connexions comes from way back when i was a school leaver and they referred me to a course called 3D spatial design in which i was apparently training to be an architect, yet when i had spoken to a few architects they had told me this course was for interior designers and that i needed to be studying construction planning, structural stress management or technical engineering!
I don’t know any game designers and therefore cannot speak to anyone about it, and to be honest i don’t think I’d even trust the colleges advice! I have searched endless courses online in pursuit of my dream only to find endless I.T courses that don’t relate to gaming in any way.
please help with my dilemma and help me to lead the life I dream of!!!
any advice will be greatly appreciated and thanks for reading =D

Hi everyone,
I’m 26 years old and I have recently changed my career from working as a freelance flautist to holistic therapy (stress management and life coaching). I want to make some new and refreshing changes in my life and (I know this sounds really, really silly) but I love aviation. My second cousin is a professional pilot and I would love to take flying lessons one day (after I’ve saved up!) I had thought about working as a flight attendant before I started my business but I realised I actually wanted to fly the plane instead! I am being supported by my partner until by business takes off and I am marketing and looking for refferals at the minute. It’s taking time but I know I will get there. I know I wouldn’t be able to fly professionally at this stage in my life but is it still worth looking into? Should I pursue something in this area? Thank you for your advice. K x

From the age of 11 I wanted to be an accountant. I trained as an articled clerk for 5 years, qualified with a regional prize for my final and, I think, became a pretty good accountant – even, apparently for my proffesion, I had a “wicked” sense of humour.
I entered the big world of industry, was so successful that I was offered and took a high management position but was no longer mostly an accountant. High pay, lower satisfaction – until I had a heart attack attack at 47 years of age and took early retirement. Excellent invalidity pay and now pension but some doubts.
Should I have stuck to my chosen career with more satisfaction, albeit at a lower level of pay, (and possibily avoided the stress/heart attack) or did as I did.
Your views would be appreciated.

However, the job seems to be a dead-end and i’m looking for advice on what would be the best way to cross-train my way to an overall IT management position (Preferably something along the lines of security, but i’ll go where the 100k jobs are). Any ideas besides just getting my certs and hoping someone gives me a shot? Should I just stay with this new job and work towards management? Learn a few programming languages? Thanks.

I have three children at home. I left my career in management at a large corporation when my youngest was born. I really miss working, but don’t want to go back to the hours and stress of what I was doing for the sake of my family. I have a degree in Business and have completed some coursework on my MBA, but I have come across few opportunities in a professional environment that can be done part time. I am willing to go back to school and am fortunate to have the means to do so, but I know going in that I want to learn something I will enjoy and that I can do part time. Does anyone have any suggestions regarding careers that lend themselves well to part time work?
