I would start with a search of Day spas in the area. Give it to him or her as a gift. Have a massage, take a hot steam bath, get another massage. You can't believe how relaxing that can be. Also, you need to get your friend out of town and away from his problems for a week or even a weekend where they can clear their head. Take him to a beach, even Niagara Falls which is right down the road.

Absolutely! There are clinics who know much about this common thing of life. Stress, if it continues for too long, could cause physiological damage to the health. I am not sure if you are looking for free or cheap or any kind of price range but I found something below that could help. Sometimes going to a spa once and awhile can relieve stress but temporarily. For the more serious issues, he may need to see a doctor and get some aid in sleeping and coping. Then again since we dont know all the details it is hard to say what could help him specifically with those issues. If a family member passed away... he needs to grieve. If it is work... he may need a good vacation. If it is something that can't go away after any of these things, maybe seeing a psychologist or something similar to help him confront the real issues at hand.
Good luck and thank you for taking the time to help him! A lot of people just like to focus on their own problems.
