bar : tips are great
ppl are friendly
can move u up the social ladder if u meet the right ppl
xoxo
Lollie
Both can be very stressful depending on the individual bar/store and its location.
Hours in bar work are longer and more unsociable. And you have to deal with drunk people all the time.
Retail involves working with ignorant people.
It’s yous decision, chose carefully
I’d say it’s easier to move up in retail though.
You need to write down on piece of paper your cons and pros for each of the job. Bar – do you have experience? It may get very very busy. The hours are long, till very late and by the time you cash up and clean and people leave, it may be 1am, 2am…. People (guys) will get drunk, loud etc. Is that what you are looking for? On the plus side, you will get minimum wages plus tips which may double the money!
Retail – do you have experience? Would you make a good manager? Are you organised, patient, are you 9-5 person?
And so on. The decision is with you. Whatever you chose – you do not have to stay if you hate it after all.
Since you are missing your family and friends, and think that working at a bar will just make you want to drink more to make you feel better.
I think retail would be the better choice, its not too stressful, and it keeps you busy so you have your mind off things.
A bar would just be too much energy for you going through this.
At least working in retail, you’ll have your weekends to go out on the town!! I used to work in a restaurant which required me to work EVERY thurs, fri, sat, sun and it was NOT fun – total loss of social life! However, working in a bar might not be too bad as your still socialising, you just cant have a drink lol plus you might get on a rota for weekend shifts! Find out and go from there!
i know how you feel me and hubby just got stationed here in maine and omg it is not what im used to and i miss my family and friends too i cant seem to find a job though but ne ways your question um…it all depends on who you are the bar scene was very fun for me i loved it….retail not so much but if you a bubbly happy person def bar but retail if you kinda shy
Retail- you can get discounts
Bar- you get tips
they are both stressful jobs but what isn’t.
It just depends if you like shopping or drinking better!
niether! they are both very stressful! if i had to choose i would do retail because at least you dont have to work evenings!!
Retail is quite stressful. Bar work might have its perks.
retail
discount on clothing ain’t so stressful
