I Need Help With Choosing A New Career…… Serious Ans. Pls..?

I have been in retail Management for over 10 yrs, but due to recent heart attack, have to leave this stressful job. I have a bachelor`s in computer science, but kinda forgot half of it, since it has been over 4 yrs. Can someone please suggest any new career with less stress, and at least enough money to support a family. thanks..

Web development is very rewarding and quite well paid. The programming aspect requires a logical brain which I’m sure you have as you mention you have a compsci degree. You can also work from home in this industry and it’s easy to learn online.

You could consider starting your own business…it is in the health and wellness industry and sounds like it would be perfect for you. I would be happy to show you the way!

I agree with the suggestions, and also I think you need to really work on the stress factor. Most jobs are stressful. I have worked in a number of different fields and have almost always found it stressful – no matter what you do there are going to be deadlines, and difficult people, and unpleasant tasks. For me, I find that I have a sort of stressed out personality, its just part of who I am so I have to find ways to deal with it. Meditation helps alot, occassional massages and acupuncture, and just taking 5 minute breaks to get away from the work and stress during the day. I like the suggestions for you for finding ways to work on your own, because you could then even take a day off if you need to, to get away from the stress, and for example if a client gets too high maintenance you could always make the decision to sever the relationship, which you don’t have that control over when you work for someone else.
    Good luck!

Whatever you choose I would recommend you take some classes on how to reduce stress. It’ll help you in your current job and in your future one!

since you have the computer background and the retail experience you may find a suitable match for your next endeavor. You can start on on-line business that would not cost much in terms of investment. Since you may have connections with your retail you may want to create a network and assess the needs of those that you may be able to serve. To distress you need to be passionate and enjoy your career. It is how you tune yourself into these situations and how you react would determine the stress levels.
You may be able to relate your experience through your website and create a virtual retail management concept.
    Best of wishes.
