It’s not every night, but it can be every night for a week or more.
This is not a sleep hygiene problem. And it’s not a matter of feeling sleepy, because I still can’t fall asleep.
I have a number of types of arthritis, and as a result, I am a chronic pain patient. My pain is managed in a number of ways, including relaxation and meds. My meds include a low-dose antidepressant, which is within the pain managment pharmaceutical arsenal.
My problem, however, is that there are times that are worse than others, in which I simply can’t, turn down or off my cognitive functions is order to allow me to sleep. This is also something that keeps me from meditating, or at least helps to keep me from meditating. I’ve taken a mindfull-based stress reduction program, and had the same problem there and found no answers.
In other words, I want to be able to find the equivalent of a cognitive “mute” button so that I can get to sleep.
Please, I’m only interest in serious answers.
