Has Anybody Got Any Good Tips For Stress Free House Moving?

You on the move Katkat?
best advice – hire someone to help. Move specialists are not that expensive and they will do much of the hard work
They will provide the boxes, pack them, carry them, unpack – well worth the cost
Good luck

I think packing room by room is the easiest thing.
I always find the kitchen the hardest, you don’t know how much stuff you actually have until you start moving. I’m sure it breeds.
I moved about 5 1/2 months ago now, about two weeks before my baby was due. Although I don’t find moving stressful, I find it the funnest thing!! Unpacking is fun. Moving is a past time of mine.
    Can’t want to move again.

Oooh, I’m not envious! I’ve moved twice in 2years, I hate it!
    *Pack room by room
*Attach a bit of paper to the top of each box with a list of its contents- it saves a whole load of rummaging through endless boxes if there is an item you need urgently!!
*If you have any kids (i think you do because i’ve seen you in Pregnancy & parenting before!) get a babysitter to watch them for the day- I moved in Jan with a 6week old & 13mth old- was a nightmare!!
Good luck in your new home xxx

  • Meemee: you didnt see me here

Sorry but it will never be stress free. Try and be as organised as possible, get plenty of rest and have as much help and back-up as possible. Keep phone numbers and contacts where you won’t lose them and have a packed abundance of food! Good luck. Its funny as they say a change is as good as a rest lol…… :)

separate boxes for separate rooms etc and the packing needs to be done quite a bit of time before the actual move. Whilst you are packing everything make sure you make it a de-clattering process because there is nothing more time wasting than moving around with rubbish.

Pack all the things you dont need about 3 weeks before you move, be ruthless when clearing out – if you havent used something or worn it for over a year then stick it to the charity shop.
Pack a room at a time, and make sure you pack the kettle last, as coffee will help you through the day!!

  • First off, hire professional movers. Don’t depend of friends to help you out, especially since they’ll expect beer and pizza. this is what grown-ups do: they hire movers and arrange for their own rides to the airport!
