I am 53 and need to make a career change as soon as possible. There is too much stress in my current management position. I am will to take a pay cut and do not want to be responsibile for anyone. I just want to do a great job and be recognized for it. Just don’t know what type of job. Have taken tests which point to going back to school and don’t want to do that. Need head hunter who has patience to work with someone who has no idea and wants something completely different. Any suggestions? Currently live in LA, but willing to move almost anywhere in Southern CA.

You don’t need a head hunter for what you want. There are many job related resources available to you. Imho, a front line job would suit you. Something in Customer Relations or Service, working with the public, an information station thing. Those are all good choices and fit your specifications. There are many locations in So Cal where you could apply. The malls, colleges, office buildings, government, Amusement parks, even casinos. A little perserverance and you are on your way. You say you can take less money start there, decide what the miniuim amount of the salary can be for you. Examine your strengths and weaknesses be honest with yourself ask what am I capable of learning and doing. Last if you follow your heart, if you choose a career you really like you will do it well and not have as much stress at work. Good luck would really like to know how you do with this.
