I’m 18 (19 on the 21st) and I’m a supervisor at a drugstore. During my shifts, I am often the only manager on duty and either close or open the store alone. I get so stressed out that I can’t sleep at night. I’ve also lost 25 pounds since May (not intentional!).
I am going back to college in the spring and I can’t handle working like this AND going to school, so I am looking for a cashier job ANYWHERE for maybe 25-30 hours a week.
Does it sound weak if I tell possible future employers that I am leaving my management job due to the stressful nature? Or should I just say that the hours were too much with school or something (I currently work 36 hours/week). . .?

Every job comes with stress, even massage therapists and yoga instructors get stressed out at work. But when the stress starts to affect your health like yours is doing to you, it’s time to go. No job is worth shaving off years of your life unless you’re trying to save the world. When you interview for your next job, just say the drugstore didn’t have any shifts that fit your class schedule or that you were ready to move on. Don’t explain it or go into details.
Don’t tell future employers about the stress issue. Do address it in your life, and in future job choices, career paths. It’s better to place the change on family circumstances or the need to clear time to go back to school, etc. Sadly, if you are honest and real, it will almost always hurt you in getting hired. Once in a long while, in a small business or with a family friend doing the hiring, it will help you.
I would just say: 1) The job is not what they explained, and rather than stay, I moved on. 2) The job demanded more time and I couldn’t give more, because of other commitments.3) I’m going back to school and will require a position with less hours.
All sound good and valid reasons that represent you in a nice way.

Check on getting into politics, goverment jobes, they only work about one week out of the month. Get full benf.for life and, you even get to give yourself a big raise ever year no mater what.Go fishing, hunting camping,you can have the best of everthing. Because old JQP is paying for all.
