It’s more to help my body deal with stress and for pain management since my doctor can’t find any serious illness but I have some kind of peripheral neuropathy where he doesn’t think any medication will really make a difference and that it is job related – but I can’t quit the job – and there’s nothing for me to switch to right now.

For many years, brandy was the drink of choice for medicinal purposes. Brandy is made from distilled wine, so still retains some of the health benefits of wine.
Try 3/4 oz in a cup of tea with honey and lemon. If the small amount of caffeine in tea bothers you at bedtime, choose a caffeine free herbal tea.
You can add it to warm milk, but I find warm milk yucky. Warm milk has tryptophan which helps you sleep though.
Moderate wine intake (1-2 glasses per day) can actually have quite a few health benefits. Red is the best choice for this. But, if you’re looking to it for medicinal purposes for pain management, etc., that might not be the best solution. A better solution may be tiny, tiny amounts of medicinal marijuana ingested via foods professionally made for that purpose. (Smoking it is very unhealthy.) But, whether that is an option depends on where you live.
You said it’s a pain management issue? Can exercise be an option? Exercise can release natural feel-good endorphins that can rival the relief you can get from drugs. Plus, it can really help with stress.
A good article about the health benefits of wine is below:
Well studies are showing that one glass of red wine is good for you but consuming more than that on a daily basis is not more beneficial to your health.
I would suggest a wine cooler. I do not like the taste of most alcoholic beverages but I can stand some wine coolers. The flavors I liked were fuzzy navel, which is peach flavored with a hint of orange juice and the strawberry daiquiri one. The wine coolers do not have a high alcohol content so you should be fine to have one or two in the evening to help you sleep. I am not a drinker so if I were to drink an entire wine cooler I would probably sleep quite well. When my sister has a really stressful day and needs to wind down she will have a wine cooler and it helps her to relax and sleep well.
Red Wine is good for the heart, but any alcohol is bad for the liver. However, some medications are bad for you (if taken over a period of time)
I always drink a glass of red wine before bed. I have trouble getting good nights rest and do not like the idea of having to take sleeping pills every night to go to bed.
must consult your doctor before starting any alcohol or changing your lifestyle because change in lifestyle has a serious impact on our psychology and state of mind.
